I came across all of these old wives’ tales surrounding gender prediction, and thought they might be fun to check out! Have any of you tried these? What were your results?
Sleep Position :
Pay attention to which way you lay down in bed tonight. If you prefer sleeping on your left side, you’ll have a boy. Right side? You’re pregnant with a girl.
I know I’m supposed to be sleeping on my left side, because of blood flow and all of that good stuff. But I much prefer to sleep on my right side. My stomach is ideal, but that’s not super comfortable anymore.
Verdict: GIRL
Upset Stomach
Little girls aren’t always sweet. Extreme nausea means you are having a daughter.
I’ve been nauseous from 6 weeks until now – midway through week fourteen. The diclectin doesn’t even touch my nausea most days.
Verdict: GIRL
Soft or Dry Hands
If your hands are dry during pregnancy, you are having a boy; soft—expect a girl.
Now, this could be because of the frigid Canadian winter, but my hands, face, legs, back, everything are SUPER dry.
Verdict: BOY
Food Cravings
Your favorite pregnancy foods may tell you what sex the baby is. If you’re craving citrus while pregnant, you’re having a girl.
Among other things, grapefruits and orange juice are high on my list of cravings.
Verdict: GIRL
Adult Acne
If altering hormones makes your skin break out, expect a girl.
Now, I’ve always had not-so-great skin, so I COULD blame my breakouts on a girl, or they could just be regular old zits. But for the sake of this test…
Verdict: GIRL
Graceful or Clumsy Pregnancy
If you feel as though you’re gliding through they day, you’ll have a girl. Stumbling? It’s a boy.
Oh gosh. I’m all arms and legs. Plus, this stupid SI joint problem means I can’t even walk straight.
Verdict: BOY
Face Weight Gain
If your face gets fuller, it means you’re having a girl.
Haven’t gained any weight yet, so the verdict is out on this one.
Sugar and Spice Food Cravings
Craving salt during pregnancy? Potato chips, pretzels, and popcorn means a boy is on the way. Need a little something sweet? Ice cream, chocolate, and candy means you’re having a girl.
Its a boy all over the place. Nachos, chips, Chinese food, butter, popcorn…its alll salty food.
Verdict: BOY
Mood Changes
If you’re experiencing pregnant mood swings, expect a baby girl to arrive soon.
I’m swinging all over the place. My poor, poor husband.
Verdict: GIRL
High or Low Pregnant Belly
If you’re carrying the baby low on your stomach, expect a boy. If it’s high, you’re having a girl.
Haven’t gotten there yet. Its low for now, but that’s because its still a shelf of fat and bloat, along with a little bit of baby.
Verdict: UNKNOWN
Baby Weight
If you’re carrying the baby in front, it’s a boy. Is the baby weight spaced all around your middle? It’s a girl.
So far, I’m gaining straight out front. We’ll go with that.
Verdict: BOY
Pendulum Test
Dangle a chain with a charm over your palm. It swings back and forth: boy. In a circle: girl.
I’ve heard all sorts of versions of these things. But, based on the test, it says
Verdict: GIRL
Model Your Hands
“Show me your hands.” If you would hold your hands palms up, it’s a girl. Down? You’re having a boy.
Verdict: GIRL
Key to Pregnancy
If you pick up a key by the round end, you’re having a boy. If you pick it up by the long end? A girl.
Verdict: GIRL
Even and Odd Numbers
If your age and year of conception are both even or odd, it’s girl. One even and one odd means a boy.
24, 2012. Both even
Verdict: GIRL
Baby’s Heartbeat
If the baby’s heart beats more than 150 times per minute, you’re pregnant with a girl. Less than 150, it’s a boy.
So far, I’ve only had one ultrasound. But the heartbeat was 175 bpm, so…
Verdict: GIRL
TOTAL:
GIRL:10, BOY:4
This goes right along with J’s gut feeling that we’re having a girl. The gender scan should be coming up soon, so I’ll be able to update you in a few weeks. We’ll see if all of these things turn out right.

My replies were all over the place, but we have a boy.
I flip-flopped in my sleep, couldn’t stand sweet stuff during the beginning of the pregnancy, but never really craved salty or sweet. Although, I did eat a ton of fruit as it was summer time. And my stepmom always uses the “carrying in front or carrying around” to determine gender and she was correct with this. You couldn’t really tell I was pregnant from the back..so it was all in the front.
Thanks for sharing these. There are tons of them and fun to read! Good luck!

I love these quizzes. Everything said boy for us except Chinese gender – and that was right for girl!
