Something else happened in November that I’ve been keeping from you. Something that I’m very excited about, even more excited about than a new house or 41,000 words written.
But before I tell you, I need you all to raise your right hands. Done? Repeat after me: “I solemnly swear that if I know AlleyRose in real life, I won’t breathe a word of this to anyone. Except AlleyRose.” Repeated? Promised? Then we’re good to go.
Yes. You’re reading that right.
After two years of trying to conceive, after wonky cycles, PCOS, and about a hundred negative pregnancy tests, this one is positive.
You guys. I’m PREGNANT.
Its early still, hence the solemnly swearing bit. Not even all of my family knows yet. But you guys have BEEN here for me, and you get it. Plus, I can’t just suddenly STOP talking about my cycles and my trying to conceive, and not expect you to guess anything’s happened.
I have such a hard time believing this is true. Honestly, the last three weeks (the amount of time I’ve known), I’ve been praying the same verse over and over again. 1 Samuel 1:27 says “For this child I prayed, and God has heard my prayer.”
Because God HAS heard my prayer. He is good, and faithful, and true. And I’ve been dancing on air for the last few weeks. I’m shocked, awed, and thrilled that this prayer is being answered with a resounding YES.
I’m due August 7 and I’m only about 8 weeks along. Its early still, early enough that I am trying not to get attached. I have my first appointment at the midwives’ clinic on January 2 – things are approaching quickly. I’m just desperate to hear that heartbeat, make sure that everything is okay in there. Then maybe I can relax a little.
But in the meantime…I’m pinning things like mad, and picking out paint colours for the nursery. Squee!
